Mànegues pel Clima, a project of Bombers Solidaris that donates support to Ramats de Foc

Mànegues pel Clima (Fire Hoses for Climate) is the new project promoted by Bombers Solidaris and focused on circular economy that consists of recycling punctured and disused fire hoses to make keychains and other textile products such as belts or purses.

Marc Hurtado, a Barcelona’s firefighter, and Natalia Valero, an environmentalist created this project with the two objectives: on the one hand, to reduce the amount of fire hoses – almost a ton a year – that end up in landfills because they are made of very resistant, difficult to recycle. And on the other hand, to continue the management of forest fires that fire hoses carried out through the donation of the benefits obtained to Ramats de Foc.

Ramats de Foc promote the presence of herds in strategic areas designated by firefighters to control the underbrush and thus reduce the risk of wildfires and their intensity. As also contribute to avoiding rural depopulation, promoting new opportunities for the primary sector.

Thus, by purchasing the keychains you will be promoting recycling and at the same time you will contribute to managing the risk of wildfires.

The keychains cost €5 and can be purchased at the Firefighters Space on 30 Lleida Street (Barcelona), during museum opening hours and at the fire stations in Barcelona.
